Story and script is written by Leon van Nierop and produced by Danie Bester from the Film Factory. Danie Bester also produced Pad na jou Hart. Ballade vir ‘n Enkeling tells the same story as in the TV series screened in 1987 but has been given a fresh look that resonates with modern audiences in 2014. As a prolific South African writer disappears, a journalist is motivated by ambition to uncover the writer’s secretive history. The nostalgia of this film will certainly contribute to the film becoming very successful amongst South African expats.
